Clare Bigger

Sculptor: Clare Bigger
Location: Lancashire
Brief Biography: Clare Bigger is a figurative sculptor who uses stainless steel to create fluid forms which capture the spontaneity of movement.
Daughter of a tropical entomologist, Clare, travelled and lived in remote places and developed an appreciation and curiosity for the natural world. Building on these early influences, she went on the study Fine Art in the UK. Since leaving art college, she has exhibited in galleries worldwide and her bespoke pieces have been commissioned by designers, private collectors and corporate clients.
About My Work:

I have always had a keen interest in sport (which includes a black belt in Tae Kwon Do) and my work often reflects this, its dynamic nature capturing a dancer balancing on point or a sprinter in full flight. My sculptures represent a point on a continuum, so it is important for me to know what came before and what will happen the split second after the pose. This helps me to convey the direction of the movement. So far, my commissioned pieces range from 10 cm to 10 metres high. I like to create energetic flowing sculptures of all manner of subjects including horses, birds and dancers to name but a few.
