I was born in Carmarthen in 1978 and had my first studio pottery when I was 18 and started selling commercially, I went on to study sculpture at the West Wales School of Art and left with a degree in 2003. I set up my home based studio and started selling via galleries all across the U.K, I had my first international show in 2014 when my work was curated into a show in Los Angeles. I have gone on to show regularly in the United States and my work features regularly at both the Royal Academy and Royal West of England Academy opens. Sir Peter Blake has said my work is “Mesmerizing and fantastical”.
About My Work:
I see my sculptures in my minds eye and go directly into making them in 3 dimensions, usually working in clay first. I often end up interpreting them after they’ve been made in much the same way as someone would interpret a dream, my work is full of metaphor and symbolism and communicates with a subconscious language revealing a parallel world of characters. Once my clay pieces are finished I will then go on to have them moulded and casts made of each piece, some are then painstakingly hand painted and can take hundreds of hours to complete.
