David exhibits his work at select galleries and art events throughout the UK and is regularly commissioned to produce pieces for private clients as well as large organisations such as London Zoo. He has won many awards over the years including Overall Runner-Up in the prestigious Wildlife Artist of The Year competition at Mall Galleries for his life-size bronze Orang-utan in 2017.
Drawing inspiration from the shapes in the natural world and the emotions evoked by animal and human behaviours, David creates sculptures in a range of styles and media in his workshop in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.
Although David has being making in clay for over 40 years, he is not one to be pigeon-holed into a design type and enjoys experimenting with new techniques and materials, always ready to develop skills such as bronze-casting, to make his ideas a reality. “Being able to cast my own bronzes has allowed me to attempt shapes and compositions that would have been completely impractical in ceramic.”
